Understanding seller ratings and reviews
Where the numbers actually come from.
A product's rating is built from reviews left by buyers of that specific product, not a store-wide score that could hide a weak individual listing behind strong ones.
A seller's storefront rolls those up into an aggregate rating across everything they've published, so you can get a read on their track record as a whole, separately from any one product.
Reviews are tied to real purchases, and buyer identity isn't shown publicly on them. You'll see the review itself and the rating, not who wrote it.
